SLU had won Conference USA's Institutional Excellence Award every year since the league has existed (now in the Atlantic 10). The award was given to the school with the highest cumulative grade point average. Cross country's Meg Gleason was the University's first student-athlete to become a Rhodes

Scholar in 1999. Saint Louis University is one of a handful of Catholic universities classified by the Carnegie Foundation as "research extensive."

During fiscal-year 2005, Health Sciences Center researchers received a record $72.7 million in funds awarded through grants, contracts and subcontracts. SLU researchers in areas outside of health sciences also experienced a record year in funds awarded through grants, contracts and subcontracts, generating $7.3 million during fiscal-year 2005

Throughout the course of the season you will be able to follow the program through the eyes and the words of Ashley Hanlen and Katie Paganelli. Katie is a senior and Ashley is a freshman so their perspectives are quite different.

I hope that you enjoy reading their offerings during the 2009-10 season. And thanks for supporting the women’s basketball program here at Saint Louis University.
